Principal’s Memo

Dear P.S. 120 Families,

Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays as well as the opportunity to relax together with your family.
This week, all students returned remotely and our building reopened for in-person instruction on Tuesday. Our Blended Learning students are coming five-days-a-week now, and daily remote instruction continues for our Remote Learning students.

I have received questions from a few families who wish to switch to in-person instruction. Please understand that while in-person students may switch to remote instruction at any time, as per DOE regulations, the change from remote to in-person is currently not allowed. If at any point Mayor De Blasio or Schools Chancellor Carranza open up additional opt-in windows this year, we will let the school community know immediately.

In the meantime, I would like to encourage parents to engage in PTA meetings, parent workshops and Parent Chats. If you are interested in participating in an upcoming Parent Chat, please fill out this survey. These are opportunities for you to meet with other families, receive support, and provide ideas and feedback on school initiatives. Our goal is to work together so that we can provide your family with the best experience, and your child with the best education, at P.S. 120.

Sincerely,
Robert Marino

  • My Sister’s Keeper (MSK) is a DOE initiative designed to promote gender equity, and empower girls and young women in grades 4-12, including cisgender, transgender, gender expansive, and any other students who identify with the terms "girl" or "woman." Through this initiative, participants will be provided with access to experiences that build confidence, strengthen community and sisterhood, celebrate their greatness, and further the goals of equity and inclusion.
Students in grades 4 and 5 whose interests align with this initiative should complete this voluntary student survey by January 15th. Responses from the survey will provide the DOE with valuable input from students to help develop programs, resources, and supports that best serve their needs. Feel free to share this MSK letter, which provides an overview of MSK and a link to the student survey, with families of students in grades 4 and 5. Additional information on next steps will be shared when it becomes available.
