Art Goals

 

Pre- Kindergarten 

Students will create pictures of bears using crayon and watercolor paints.
Students will use lines to create house or apartment buildings
Students will be able to create mittens with simple and more complex patterns

Kindergarten

Students will practice using rulers
Students will use lines to create a city scene
Students will be able to compare a pictures similarities and differences
Students will become familiar with vocabulary: horizontal, vertical, landscape portrait
Students will learn about perspective

1st grade
Students will be able to create a drawing using symmetry
Students will use lines to create shapes from simple to complex
Students will emphasize their work by outlining in marker
Students will create a background using paint while controlling the medium with water
Students will incorporate collage by forming more complex, identifiable shapes.
 

5th grade
Students will work on the art elements line, shape & form and be able to create sophisticated detailed drawing
Students will be able to create artwork that has balance (symmetry)
Students will address positive and negative space when creating art
Students will experiment with 3-dimensional art by working with form
Students will work on the design principal emphasis by using variety, pattern and color in their work
Students will learn a new artist technique that has been around for centuries (metal tooling)
Students will be able to identify analogous colors and use them when color blending
