Dear PS 120 Families,
I am writing to inform you P.S. 120 implements protocols that focus on emergency preparedness. Under the city-wide General Response Protocol (GRP), we will be conducting drills throughout the year that are designed to help prepare our school community for three different types of response to emergencies that may occur: evacuation, shelter-in, and lockdown.
On Tuesday, December 15th at 9:25am and Friday, December 18th at 9:25am, the staff and students at PS 120 will be participating in a lockdown drill. The purpose of this drill is to prepare our students and staff for any emergency that may occur where it may be necessary for us to lockdown the building.
Safety is our top priority at P.S. 120. We conduct drills because we want students and staff members to be safe as well as to develop an awareness of their roles in these various scenarios. Additionally, all families are reminded to update the Digital Emergency Contact Cards should any information change during the school year. I also encourage you to take advantage of the resources that are available to keep you informed if there is an emergency at a school. Families can register with Notify NYC (https://a858-nycnotify.nyc.gov/notifynyc/) to receive information via text and email concerning emergency events. You can also call 311 for additional information about any school during an emergency.
Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the upcoming lockdown drill.
