iREADY MINUTES

Dear Parents,

It is a schoolwide requirement that all Kindergarten - 5th grade students engage in the at-home computer program iReady for 30-49 minutes per week, per subject.

Our school purchases schoolwide iReady licenses to help students meet grade-level standards. iReady is an online tool for K-5th grade students in Reading and Math. Three times a year at school, we take the iReady diagnostic screeners to assess students' skill levels. Between assessments, we ask parents to help students meet the assigned iReady minutes goal with a 70% pass rate in each lesson. Students must engage in the iReady myPath lessons, which provide personalized, adaptive instruction based on students' performance on previous lessons. Students can also be assigned specific content area lessons by their teachers directly.

There is solid research showing that students who use i-Ready for the prescribed amount of time at home tend to make more substantial academic progress than students who do not. Extensive studies following hundreds of thousands of students found that children who consistently meet their weekly i-Ready minutes and actively complete lessons show greater growth in reading over the school year. The results are most noticeable when students use the program regularly and with focus, not just logging in briefly.

This video provides more information about the iReady program, and I have attached multiple family resources to help parents learn more. You can also visit iReady's Family Center for more resources.

Please ensure that your child is logging in to complete his/her weekly minutes outside of school hours, either at home or with his/her after-school provider.  If you have any technical or internet issues, please let us know.

Sincerely-
R. Marino
Principal
