Principal’s Memo

Dear P.S. 120 Families,

This Monday, there is no school in observance of Memorial Day, a day on which we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the U.S. military. We thank them for their service and for keeping our country, and our democracy, safe.

An important part of democracy is the right and responsibility to vote. With this in mind I would like to call your attention to two important elections occurring soon in our community.

  • NYC: June 2021 Primary Election - Ranked-choice voting will be used for the June 2021 Primary Election, in which the Mayor and other city officials are elected. Learn more about ranked-choice voting and the June Primary Election here.

  • P.S. 120: We will hold our schoolwide PTA elections in the evening on Wednesday, June 16th. We encourage all parents to attend as we vote for a President, Treasurer, and Secretary for the 2021-2022 school year.

Particularly during this school year, our PTA faced the challenge of how to program services and events to include all P.S. 120 students and families. Looking ahead towards next year, we are excited to discover the possibilities our 2021-2022 PTA can accomplish together. But… we need YOU! We need more parents to participate in the PTA, to attend monthly meetings, provide feedback, and to serve as board officers (President, Treasurer, Secretary). We provide training and staff support for our elected board officers, and we encourage parents of all grades to get involved as much as your schedules will allow. Please contact our Parent Coordinator Ms. Wu (ywu25@schools.nyc.gov) if you are interested in joining the PTA and/or running for one of our open PTA offices.

Sincerely,
Robert Marino
